The #1 chat network is now open to developers around the world. The Windows Live Messenger Library is a JavaScript library that lets developers create their own Web interfaces to the Messenger network. David Treadwell dropped the news on dev.live.com last night.
This is the coolest thing yet to come out of the Windows Live platform. I'm looking forward to the cool new Messenger UIs people will create! Some good examples are already out there:
-
Messenger Hello World is a simple implementation, great for learning how to get started. I helped build this application specifically to give new Messenger developers a jumpstart. Just do View Source and see how it was built.
-
iBloks has a slick implementation in their
Video Messenger. This one is a mixture of HTML and Flash.

It's easy to learn to code with the Messenger Library. In the coming days I'll show you how to build your own Messenger application. For now, Angus Logan and I have been working on some info on all the Windows Live APIs that launched today. Check it out!
